Can You Build an Email List….Just Using Articles on Your Blog?

Cararta and Andrew

Cararta and Andrew

Still working on building an email list….

Know I need one, Think I want one,
but have a feeling of dread at writing emails, emails email ……

Don’t mind writing articles, even comments aren’t bad…
but emails……………….hard time connecting

I know, I’ll just copy Robert Plank’s  emails to me….
put them in a file and do a little editing
or since I would like to do a little affiliate marketing and have some
great products like Back up Creator…That Paper Plate Theme thing …even PodCast
Crusher  I’m sure there is an email left over in my overflowing box…

What is Facebook Doing to Emails as a Sales Vehicle?

But talking about emails and how all these social things..may or may not affect emails……..google plus did something
strange…I have this site about Diabetes…went into the valley lately..
a friend said he finally found me on page 43 if searching for sugar control  like (just type it in an look)

Well, I did a proxy search tonight….guess who is on page 1 number 1 for
a post I did on my site August, 2012 and left a Facebook comment somewhere about it
that G+ picked up and decided it liked…even if old….
and no SEO in title but did make it into the first sentence….

Sugar Control Diet Facebook Number One for a Day

Sugar Control Diet Facebook Number One for a Day

“Some foods strange to the regular American diet are recommended in this diet cookbook and blood sugar control plan! “

Plus Andrew (my Orange and White buddy) and I are sitting there taking it all in….

Does a Picture help With Rankings on Google + or Google?

Almost every results on that page had a picture…My picture was my gravatar guess a picture is a picture.

Maybe we need to develop a different POV….there are always new people
coming into the internet…getting interested in Marketing and Blogging so maybe their
email boxes aren’t overflowing ….yet.

About any of this, there is one thing that is a MUST…
be consistent..

  • posting,
  • commenting,
  • sending your emails

If nothing else make yourself a schedule like my Grandma did:

Monday washing (laundry)
Tuesday Ironing (pillow cases first so can make up the beds)
(takes a long time when you heat the irons on a wood burning stove) .
Wednesday go to church
Thursday churn the butter
Friday weed the garden (her domain-the men did the big cotton & corn fields)
Saturday Bathe all the children…8 grandchildren she took care of including me!
Sunday Church and Sunday Dinner (at home)

In addition to the above she had a few jobs that were done daily:

milk Bessie and the heifer…(delegated to me & my cousin Ralph)

Cook for 8 children & 3 to 5 adults….add 4 more adults on the weekend (parents of the 8 children …home from jobs in town at the “Mill”)
Breakfast:
Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits, milk gravy and grits & eggs. Fruit…canned or fresh
pack lunches for the men to take to the fields along with quart jars of “Sweet Tea”

Lunch for kids usually breakfast left overs, even cornbread and milk

Dinner: Smoked ham or pork from the smoke house, vegetables..fresh or her own canned from the garden. Cornbread and biscuits…

No electricity, no refrigeration except for “spring house” to keep milk and butter.
At night all leftovers were fed to the pigs…called Slopping the hogs...along with
un shelled ears of corn…..pea shells..

Oh yeah,

feed the chickens and gather the eggs every day…and lock them in the hen house at night….anything that moves likes to eat chickens..hawks, foxes, possums, raccoons, mink and wild cats (baby sized mountain lions never saw one, but Grandpa said they are there and you would hear them talking to the world at night).

A few other little jobs added in…sweep, mop, make lye soap to do laundry, dishes
and even wash the floors….make up all those beds, clean out the fireplace,
clean out the wood burning kitchen stove (save the ashes for making soap)

Delegating and outsourcing she knew….

The boys brought buckets of water up from the spring down in the “holler” to
fill up the reservoir in the stove (hot water to dish washing),
Water for the chickens, pigs, mules, horses and fill up the water can on the back porch,

Girls…do dishes or help by drying and putting away..wipe down the stove with
Lard to make it shine….clean the lamp shades (kerosene and they smoked) help with the chickens and churning the butter.  On wash day bat the clothes, run the wringer, help hang up the clothes to dry.

Entrepreneur before the word was invented:

Traded extra eggs for some butter from a neighbor..she liked her mold with
flower pictures on the butter….ours was just round and plain!

Traded cured ham for beef roast with another neighbor.

She didn’t write it down…just got up every day and Did It.

She was as methodical and organized as Robert any day of the week.

Hmmm….and here I am ‘ whining about writing a few emails.

Really wish I was
my Grandmothers Daughter like my younger sister is…

Up early and go from dawn to dusk without stopping.

Hi Cararta,

Really nice rant . . . uuuh article.

But I don’t get it?

If you can write like you just showed us you already have the key to reader engagement, and emails.

Just add a few curiosity triggers, some questions for them to ask themselves and maybe respond to you with and divide your articles up into 2 or 3 parts hook a few together,

add some points about your product or an affiliate product (with a link in SOME of your mails) related to the area your list is in

and before you know it you have an email sequence built.

Load those into your autoresponder a day or 2 apart from each other and

vola, you have folks opening your mails right and left because they want to hear what you are saying.

That builds your credibility and helps spur folks on to open your mails and links that are inside.

Keep me posted how you progress
warmly

In case you thought I’ve lost it.  All of the above was a comment I left on Robert Planks Blog

and a response from  a Very Nice David Whitfield.

On an article titled:

The Worst Kept Secret of Internet Marketing: Email Every Day, Sell Every Day,

Make Money Every Day

which I was reading to get some ideas and inspiration to build an email list.

So if I want an email list to worry about sending emails to, I’ve decided to write about my thought process, lack of action (that comment was in June, 2013!), can’t say I don’t take my time!

AND  what I have been doing to make some progress.  I have two processes that I am using,

so if you want a click through, either check out that text link right below the header on this page or zip over to

Cararta.com  where things are nice and neat and easy.

Question.  Do you have something that you work on, almost finish and then Hit the Big Road Block

and it is still sitting there?

I could have started this months ago, but I just couldn’t make myself create a folder on my site to upload my Gimmie  (that’s a give away for the non slangers)  into.

I think the mental exertion to make the decision and do it was much more stressful that the actual doing!

How about you?  Still wrestling in your head?

So You Want To Build an Email List

Build your email list!

Heard that before somewhere?

It is so prevalent that it is like mosquitoes  in a Florida swamp!

I’ve been working lately, on building an email list after having a WordPress

Website since March 5, 2011.

When I first got started working on Al Gore’s  Internet,

everything I saw was about “Get a Domain name and a Host.”

From there I moved on to trying to make the site look as nice as possible with my free  WordPress theme.

It finally penetrated a few months ago, you can blog all day til the cows come home,

but if Google, who controls 90% or so of search engine traffic doesn’t have you on their

You are Invited to the Party

list as one of those 10  super stars  who are really welcome….then hang it up as far as getting traffic to your site.

Those cute little banner ads will be nothing more that some colorful decoration on your pages.

They might break up the monotony of the landscape and make you feel like you are really doing some Marketing, but what you are doing is spinning your wheels.

So, being me…in case you haven’t met me, I decided to check out a few Email Guru’s.

Here is something I snagged from Frank Salinas…snatched right out of an email he sent to me.

Demo of EZ Share Generator

It is all about a cute little piece of software that you can get access to by clicking on this link,

I WANT TO CHECK IT OUT!

This is what Frank has to say about that EZ share Generator

“Brand New Software Quickly And Easily Gets You Unlimited Amounts Of Targeted Traffic From Facebook, Google & Twitter Without Being A Computer Genius Or Fancy Pants Programmer…Guaranteed”

Just for the fun of it you also get a nice  Report with lots of links to some of Franks favorite tools

that he uses for keeping his email business ticking.   And a link from me on the very bottom of the last page for another gimmie!

The total cost of just an email address…make it a good one, cause there are some more Gimmies on the way!

Scan all the way to the bottom inside the report and click the link,  A super bonus is awaiting.

Knowing someone makes it easier to spend a little money!

Well, back to building an email list, I bought a 100 clicks from a friend on Facebook…cause I know what kind of guy he is.   Might even share his name with you, if you want to visit https://www.Facebook.com/InternetMoneyStore and leave a comment on something and ask me for a link to my Solo Ad guy.

Only ordered 100 clicks, wonder if he over delivered?

Aweber List set up Sept 22, 2013

Aweber List set up Sept 22, 2013

According to what I’m learning, I need to set up a click tracker…but the one recommended is

not quite in my budget ….maybe later when I have a miracle list and learn how to use it to get my friends to visit Skipper Works!

Talked to my friend the first day and he said my click through rate was 60%….”They must have

liked it!”

Have you started an email list yet?  I’ve looked and tried and dithered around,  putting off getting started….Well, I’m in!

And added another job to the schedule….Email Copy writing.

Have you built an email list yet?

How long did it take to get up to about 500 if you have?

And another question, do you think an email list is worth the time, work and money that you

invest to get it going?

Thanks for your input,  I know it takes time, but will be appreciated!
